Zombie Apocalypse 1955 by DocRedfield Zombie Apocalypse 1955 by DocRedfield
This is the completed 'Normal Colors' version of the project William Farmer
:iconfarmtown: (www.billfarmercolor.com) and I decided to do for the upcoming Phoenix Comicon in May 2011. The 'Con Exclusive' version (Moodier colors) will be available for sale from us in the Small Press/Artists' Alley area; Limited edition signed 11x17 prints for a measley $10Bucks!
Lineart: [link]

Anyway, I can't tell you how pleased I am with this. We wanted something recognizable and fun, and when Bill suggested Zombies, this is where my mind went, being the vintage and pop lover that I am; a kind of satire of all those posters over the years of Bogey, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean in a diner (or pool hall, or street corner, cafe, etc), as well as all he one's featuring the Rat Pack.

A It was sooo much fun to do and I knew Bill's colors would really make it stand out, and he did a fantastic job.

Original Art 11x17, micron pens on Bristol, colored in AdobePS.

This is a really fun piece of work! The characters and action are great. Wonder where Franks' other half is?

This is how they did it in the fifties. It seems that tech doesnt matter in the zonbie genure only the number of the undead and resolve of the survivors. So even people 3000 years would have troublewith a zombie break out.

I'm rooting for the survivors on this one, instead of the "bad guys." Let's hope James, Marilyn, Elvis, and Bogey can make it out of the Cafe alive! Your drawing has lent itself beautifully to those colors. All that outside detail through the glass is great. =)

Thanks, Jeff... I'm really very proud of the lines on this, as well as the collaboration. I'd say that Bodey alone can save the world ;)
