Description
This was a recent commission from a fave client, so I gave it a little extra as it was such a fun subject – hey I love pirates and naked, chained babes (don’t worry, I’m sure that its all innocent posturing... they rebuild the town, and the girls were all unsatisfied Subs who had been, until found by the nice pirate men, sexually frustrated women living alone while the hubbies were at sea). He suggested a Pirate’s Slave Galley and the possibility of maybe fresh girls being brought aboard as viewed through the side window/port. Usually I don’t draw so many characters for a commission unless asked specifically to do so, but the client has given me some free reign before so I ran with the ideas …and then some.
Anyway, I took out all the tricks from my book so far; sketched the layout on 11x14, scanned and played with the layout in Photoshop to perfect the composition, then printed it out smaller and light boxed it onto 9x12 Strathmore. Penciled the forms all nice and then inked away with micron pens. Finally, I scanned it and colored it in PS7. Using a Wacom, layers, layer masks, and a few textures (lightly), I completed the piece over a few days.
