My friend Jenny noted that I’ve been getting some art done when I mentioned commissions that I’ve completed of late and a few other ideas that I’m working on. “The Muse is speaking to you again?” she asked happily. “She’s hangin’ out,” I surmised. “Not jumping my bones or anything, but she’s stayed for coffee.” And its true – I’ve found enough time between the ebb and flow of artistic and otherwise passion to get some stuff done. But to really finish something of note, or true art for the love of it, that’s still an elusive bitch, I must admit. I catch sight of her in the forest sometimes, but by the time I raise my bow, eh, the timing’s still off. But at least I’ve spotted the beast, running free and probably naked between the trees. She winks, too. Weird.

It isn’t easy finding your inner muse again when life throws a lot of big troubles your way, I can tell you that for nothing. Any further advice I could charge for, but it really would be a scam; we each have to figure it out for ourselves.

Meantime I try to remind myself of my inspirations. When each falters, I turn to another till I regain my footing.
I picked up ‘Modern Masters 14; Frank Cho, today, hot on the heels of vol. 15, Mark Schultz. Maybe I’ll even finish reading the interviews – wouldn’t THAT be novel?! New season of Doctor Who started up (and lets face it, excited as the child within is that there’s cool spin-offs like Sarah Jane and Torchwood, WHO’s where it’s at, honestly. Bless). Summer movies are comin’ in for the jugular, and we’re getting a group together for at least one of them (Indy 4, please stand up). I still get out dancing, I still call friends. Rotate, repeat, come on, get happy, you Partridges.

So, remind me of what I’m supposed to be working on and how happy I’m supposed to be while doing it if I seem to forget – the mojo needs to remain in the upright position, no crash landings are scheduled, thank you very much.
